Actually, it is mostly foreigners who are the most aggressive and feel the "need" to throw the zabuton. I have seen one zabuton hit a patron in the corner of his eye. Moreover, they are thrown right before and whilst the yumitori is performing the closing bow twriling ceremony, which can be dangerous to the yumitori (rikishi performing the ceremony) as well as spectators. As for upsets, I've seen too many instances of the zabuton throwing even when a yokozuna wins, if his opponent is popular in the respective venue. They are doing the right and safe thing by redesigning the zabuton.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
